The letters A to Z have each been allocated a different number between 1 and 26. The number next to each word in this list is the sum total of the letter values in that word. So, for example, in UNO, U might equal 8, N 22 and O 1, or U might equal 14, N 2 and O 15, or any other combinatio­n adding up to 31.
