80% want to quit the job

EIGHT out of 10 teachers have considered quitting because of their heavy workload, a survey says.

Two out of five say they spend 21 hours a week working at home.

Kevin Courtney, of the National Education Union, said much of it was “unnecessary work such as data collection for arbitrary Government targets”.

Education Secretary Damian Hinds has pledged to cut teachers’ hours.
