Nazanin husband wants PM ‘push’ after Johnson failure
THE husband of jailed Briton Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe has called on Theresa May to intervene after Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson’s failure to free her.
Richard Ratcliffe spoke at a rally in Hampstead, North London, to mark the second anniversary of his wife being held in Iran. He said: “We have to push up another level, and that’s the Prime Minister.”
He said of Mr Johnson’s efforts: “Before Christmas he vowed to leave no stone unturned, a political commitment. This isn’t a consular case where the Government has no obligations.” Mum-of-one Nazanin, who denies plotting to overthrow Iran’s regime, is suffering from panic attacks. Her MP Tulip Siddiq told the rally she had asked to meet Mrs May. She said: “What I want to know is what are they negotiating, and are they going to bring my constituent home?”
