Diving death of soldier set to be father
A SOLDIER expecting his first child died in an accident during diver training.
L Cpl George Partridge, of 26 Engineer Regiment, was on an army course at the National Dive Activity Centre last week.
The death at the flooded quarry in Tidenham, Glos, is being investigated.
L Cpl Partridge, 27, who was married to Zoe, joined up at 19 and served in Afghanistan in 2012.
Diver training was a long-held ambition and he had just been selected for promotion to Corporal.
In a Facebook tribute, dad Steven said: “I am immensely proud of him.”
His regiment in Perham Down, Wilts, said: “This is a tragic loss to his wife, family, 26 Engineer Regiment and the Corps of Royal Engineers.”
