FAB: ENGLAND TOO TIRED

- BY DARREN LEWIS

FABIO CAPELLO fears England’s players will be too exhausted to challenge for the World Cup.

The former Three Lions boss reached the last 16 of the tournament eight years ago in South Africa. But he fears Gareth Southgate’s men will be undermined in Russia by the effects of a long season. Capello (left) said: “England have youngsters with great talent and knowledge.

“It is possible that these young men don’t feel the pressure, so they might play without tension. But a key problem is that they come very physically tired to compete with teams, whose players are not so fatigued.”

Capello believes Spurs striker Harry Kane will benefit from his enforced lay-off with an ankle injury.

He added: “Every team would want Kane. He doesn’t wait for the ball, but moves constantly to create danger. He has a good nose for goal.”
