CALEB HAS ONE EK OF BAD NIGHT

-

LEEDS’ luck was summed up by a freak Fulham goal and a costly few seconds that left Caleb Ekuban needing consoling.

Kevin McDonald’s flukey opener off his hip gave promotion-chasing Fulham the lead before Ekuban was brought crashing down to earth.

He ended a long wait for his first league goal against Bolton on Good Friday.

But it was a bad Tuesday for the Italian striker as Aleksandar Mitrovic’s match-clincher came just moments after his awful miss.

Ekuban raced through, but was denied by Marcus Bettinelli and Mitrovic (above) made him pay moments later after trading passes with Tom Cairney.

The Leeds striker buried his head in his shirt before his teammates rushed over to gee him up. Fulham extended their unbeaten run to 18 league games and cut second-placed Cardiff’s lead to five points.

It was soon clear this clash would go to form even if it took 33 minutes for the home side to score, McDonald deflecting in Mitrovic’s header as he turned away from goal.

Halfway during this season, it was Leeds in the play-offs and Fulham mid-table.

But a dismal Leeds run of just two wins since Boxing Day has reversed the roles.
