Winnie was once a force for good
It was sad to read about the death of Winnie Mandela (Mirror, April 3).
In the 1980s I remember her being a figurehead for the anti-apartheid movement while her then husband, Nelson, was in prison.
Although her reputation was tainted by her convictions for kidnapping and assault, Winnie’s contribution to the fight for freedom in South Africa should not be underestimated.
