National’s no good for Mee

AS DE MEE has suffered a setback and will miss the Randox Health Grand National at Aintree on Saturday week.

The eight-year-old, despite his 40-1 odds, was a high-profile candidate for the world’s most famous steeplechase as he is part-owned by James Bond actress Dame Judi Dench.

As De Mee scored over the famous fences when landing Aintree’s Grand Sefton Chase in December 2016.

His trainer Paul Nicholls said: “He has sustained a minor leg injury. It is tough luck on his owners who were hoping for a big run from him.”
