Bale would be a misfit

- BY STEVE BATES

GARETH BALE could become a Jose Mourinho misfit if he leaves Real Madrid for Manchester United this summer.

That’s the view of one-time United and England defender Paul Parker, who believes Bale would be just another big-name player in a team without a proper playing identity under Mourinho.

The 28-year-old Welshman could be heading out of the Bernabeu this summer but Parker has reservations about Old Trafford being his best option.

“United will make some big summer signings but you wonder if they are becoming a team?” said Parker, speaking to 888sport ahead of Saturday’s derby clash.

“You wonder whether someone like Bale would fit in. He’s not a wide player any more and likes to do his work through the middle. There are a lot of players already like that at United.

“These players come and it doesn’t work out because they’re no longer the players they were at their former clubs. That comes down to Mourinho’s style.”

Paul Parker predicts Raheem Sterling to score first and Man City to beat United 3-1 on Saturday, available at 75/1 with 888sport. T&Cs apply. Odds subject to change.
