Boy oh boyo, BBC hid this thrill

-

Inspired by the return of ITV’s gritty real-life crime series The Investigator last night, I’ve decided to highlight a different crime.

Obviously, it’s nowhere near as serious as the ones investigated by Mark Williams-Thomas, but the perpetrators still owe the victims some recompense.

So I fully expect the BBC to announce that the BBC Wales mystery drama Keeping Faith will be made freely available to anyone who A) doesn’t live in that fine country or B) can’t be bothered with new-fangled technology.

Having watched the whole series on iPlayer I must warn you it’s as addictive as the likes of Broadchurch and Liar.

Eve Myles (in a fetching yellow coat) plays Faith Howells, a small town lawyer whose husband Evan goes to work one morning and vanishes.

I can’t reveal much more without spoilers – let’s just say that when Faith’s best mate tells her, “I’d go through all his stuff. Well, everyone’s got secrets, don’t they?” Faith more than takes her advice. Turns out Evan isn’t the only one with secrets, and I’m happy to confirm that watching them all unravel amid a stunning backdrop of Welsh beaches is a televisual delight. Well, almost all. A second series has just been commissioned so I’m guessing there are a few more twists on the way. With luck the BBC will have pulled its scheduling finger out and put the whole thing on national primetime by then. If not, I’m sending the boyos round. (Come on, I’m an eighth Welsh – I’m allowed to say boyo.) CLUES Eve as Faith
