OMAR’S CRIME FIGHT

- BY JAMES NURSEY

SHREWSBURY’S Omar Beckles wants to make it to the top to help tackle knife crime following the stabbing of his brother.

The London-born defender (left), who will line up at Wembley in the Checkatrade Trophy final against Lincoln on Sunday, said: “I was in the midst of knife crime when I was in school. I had to deal with my brother and his friend being stabbed. We didn’t lose them but there’s the rage you have to deal with.

“Football was a distraction but there’s still so much I want to do for my family in London.”
