Six held over ‘knife terror plot at race’
POLICE are believed to have foiled a knife terror attack on yesterday’s Berlin half-marathon.
Special forces seized six men, aged between 18 and 21, after a series of raids.
Officers had a tip-off from a foreign intelligence service. It was feared there was a plot to attack the 36,000 runners with knives and 620 police were called in to protect them.
The six were suspected of “preparing a grave cityendangering violent act”.
They allegedly had links with the Berlin Christmas market terrorist Anis Amri, who killed 12 and injured dozens in December 2016.
Police said: “There were indications those arrested were participating in the preparation of a crime in connection with this event.”
