ITV2, 10pm

If you haven’t seen this BAFTAwinning Ancient Rome sitcom, it’s worth seeking out on ITV2. Although there’s bad news for Plebs fans – Joel Fry, who played Stylax won’t be returning. You may have noticed he’s been busy with other work, including the recent spooky drama Requiem.

In this fourth series, the favourite will be replaced by another equally gormless character, builder Jason, played by Jonathan Pointing.

He joins cast regulars Tom Rosenthal (Marcus), Ryan Sampson (Grumio), Tom Basden (Aurelius), Tom Davis (Davus) and Doon Mackichan (Flavia).

Also watch out for Robert Lindsay, brilliant as crooked property developer Crassus.

As this starts, there’s a dramatic and catastrophic industrial accident.

The boys respond in different ways – Grumio wants to “go to seed” with too much wine, while Marcus wants financial compensation.

Previously billed as a mix between The Inbetweeners and Blackadder, this is still fresh and funny – and slightly filthy.
