Novichok pair ‘will get new IDs and lives in US’

-

SALISBURY poisoning victims Sergei and Yulia Skripal will be offered new identities and new lives in the US, it was claimed yesterday.

Security sources said Britain would want to guarantee the safety of the ex-KGB double agent and his daughter by moving them to a “five-eyes” ally – the intelligence-sharing partnership that includes the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

A source said the “obvious place” was the US as “they’re less likely to be killed there”. But they could also be secretly resettled in the UK.

The Skripals are recovering in hospital after being poisoned with the Novichok nerve agent on March 4. Meanwhile Moscow’s ambassador to the UK is to ask for a meeting with Met Police boss Cressida Dick over the suspected murder of a Russian businessman in London.

Alexander Yakovenko wants a briefing over the death of Nikolay Glushkov, 68, in his home in New Malden, South West London last month.
