Labour mock ‘toffs’ party’

JOHN McDonnell ridiculed suggestions a new political party backed by £50million will “break the Westminster mould”.

The centrist movement is said to include entrepreneurs and donors who have been working in secret for a year.

But the Shadow Chancellor tweeted: “That’s a novel idea. A party of the rich, by the rich, for the rich.” Shadow Health Secretary Jonathan Ashworth added: “What a daft waste of time.”
