Welfare state overhaul call

THE welfare state needs to start over again, Labour’s ousted Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary says.

Debbie Abrahams calls for another Beveridge Report, which in 1942 led to the benefits system.

She writes: “We need a new report, defining a new social contract, addressing the poverty and inequalities millions are enduring.”
