Former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies’s latest programme tells the true story of the first British politician, Jeremy Thorpe (Grant), to stand trial for conspiracy and incitement to murder.

Thorpe lost his career after four men were charged with conspiring to murder Norman Scott, an ex-male model who claimed he’d had a sexual relationship with the MP at a time when gay sex was illegal. Thorpe continued to deny the claim to his death in 2014.
