1st car costs less than 60s
YOUNG drivers pay less for their first car than their grandparents did when they got behind the wheel.
The average spend today is £4,627, but to get on the road in the 1960s it cost the equivalent of £6,026.
Then the most popular models were Morris Minors and Minis, while the Ford Ka is now No1.
Of 18 to 34-year-olds 56% paid for their own.
