‘PEP TALK IS ALL AIMED AT RAIOLA’

- BY DAVID McDONNELL

JOSE MOURINHO suggested that Pep Guardiola said he had been offered Paul Pogba in a bid to get back at the Manchester United midfielder’s agent.

In the build-up to the derby, Manchester City boss Guardiola claimed Pogba’s representative Mino Raiola had enquired if he was interested in signing the £89million star from United.

Asked if he was surprised by what Guardiola had said, Mourinho replied: “No, I don’t even think about it.

“We know Guardiola and Mino, the relationship is not the best, so it’s normal that sometimes they can come with a little touch on each other.

“But I wasn’t worried about it, I wasn’t upset by it, I didn’t speak with Paul about it and I didn’t call Mino to ask him.

“I was just focused on the game and I think Paul was the same, because the way he played is only possible when he’s focused on the game.”

Raiola denied he offered Pogba directly to Guardiola (with Mourinho, below), but it is understood the agent contacted City chief executive Ferran Soriano in January to float the idea.

When Guardiola was told of Raiola’s denial, he said: “OK. I trust in my people.”
