- BY BRYONY JEWELL

POLICE issued a £20,000 reward to help catch two “cowards” who fatally beat a man in Trafalgar Square.

Desmond O’Beirne, 51, was punched from behind by one attacker and kicked by the second assailant while on a night out.

He suffered major brain injuries and was in a vegetative state until he died six months later.

The assault on Mr O’Beirne, from Westminster, on June 3 last year in Central London was captured on CCTV.

His sister Vivienne Folan said: “Desmond was viciously attacked by two cowards who walked away and left him for dead.”

Det Chief Insp Noel McHugh of the Met Police said: “Someone might see this video and remember they witnessed this.”
