Firefighters get vile note over bomb
HORRIFIED firefighters were accused of “drinking tea and playing snooker” during the Manchester Arena bombing in an anonymous letter sent to a fire station in the city.
The note arrived after the Kerslake Report into the terror attack acknowledged the service was not at the scene for an “unusually long period of time”.
The typed letter was sent afterwards, telling the firefighters: “Civilians went to help the victims, but your firefighters remained at their stations, no doubt drinking tea and playing snooker as they were afraid to attend the scene.”
One firefighter said: “We were just in disbelief.”
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue said it would respond appropriately to the letter in due course.
