Cancer hope for Taz devil
DRUGS for human cancers could be used to treat tumours that are putting Tasmanian devils at risk of extinction, scientists say.
The Aussie marsupials suffer a form of the disease which can be spread through biting – causing killer facial growths.
But University of Cambridge experts found medical drugs controlled the devil cancer cells.
Researcher Dr Elizabeth Murchison said: “This may offer a chance to assist with conservation efforts of this iconic animal.”
