Ban on animal exports hope

THE export of live animals for slaughter could be banned after Brexit.

Environment Secretary Michael Gove raised the prospect as he launched a call for evidence review.

He claimed ministers “aim to control the export of live animals for slaughter once we leave the European Union”.

The British Veterinary Association’s John Fishwick said: “Animals should be slaughtered as near to the point of production as possible.”
