RADIO 1 is scheduling a three-day weekend – cutting Nick Grimshaw’s show to a four-day week.

The weekend will run Friday to Sunday with ex-Saturdays star Mollie King, Alice Levine and Maya Jama fronting shows.

Nick Grimshaw, Clara Amfo and Greg James will all host four shows a week.

Starting in June, the weekend breakfast show from 6.30am to 10am, Friday to Sunday, will be presented by Dev and Alice Levine. Maya Jama then hosts Radio 1’s Greatest Hits from 10am to 1pm.

Mollie King takes over with Matt Edmondson from 1pm to 4pm.

She said: “I’ve grown up listening to Radio 1. This is an absolute dream for me.”

Scott Mills, 44, will host The Official Chart at 4pm on Fridays. He said: “My mum cried, I’ve been pretending to do the chart show since I was eight.”

Nick Grimshaw posted a photo of Chris Evans at the pub yesterday, referencing the time the DJ quit live on air in 1997 over his wish to work a four-day week.

Grimmy wrote: “Fridays off is V Chris Evans.”
