Shadow minister in B-word blast at party’s Brexit policy
A LABOUR frontbencher said part of the party’s Brexit policy is “b ***** ks”, but leaders have denied he “denounces” the official stance.
Shadow International Trade Secretary Barry Gardiner slated Labour’s demands for the “exact same benefits” of single market membership after leaving the EU.
A recording emerged of him calling the position “b ***** ks – always has been”. But Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said yesterday: “He does not denounce our Brexit policies – we have had a conversation with him.” Five ex-Northern Ireland Secretaries say a hard border after Brexit would threaten “the very existence” of the Good Friday Agreement. The former Labour Cabinet ministers, including Peter Mandelson, issued the warning on the 20th anniversary of the signing of the peace deal.
