BROWN’S PEACE WITH BENNETT
FORMER St Helens and Huddersfield boss Nathan Brown has apologised for his personal attack on England coach Wayne Bennett.
After Saturday’s match between their Newcastle and Brisbane sides in the NRL, Brown hit back at Bennett’s claim that he “unbuilt” the club after his predecessor’s departure from the Knights.
Brown (right) said he would not have had to rebuild anything if Bennett had thought “with his big head rather than his little head” while at Newcastle.
It was widely interpreted as a reference to the breakdown of Bennett’s 42-year marriage during his time at the Knights. Brown said: “Coaches become quite resilient. We cop our fair share but dust off the next day and get on with it. I’ve spoken to Wayne. If I’ve offended anyone, I apologise.”
