Parliament must speak

-

EVERY decent person will be revolted by the pictures of dead children and adults in Syria, poisoned in an evil chemical attack in the bloodiest of civil wars.

The finger of blame points in the direction of murderous dictator Bashar al-Assad, who is believed to have the stocks, and the means, to deliver these terrible banned weapons.

Doing nothing is not an option but after disasters in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya, our Government must think carefully and seek the approval of Parliament before being sucked into another unpredictable conflict.

Without evidence that dropping more bombs would bring this civil war to a swifter end, following a trigger-happy Donald Trump into a military battle, with Russia on the other side, isn’t a decision for a Prime Minister alone.

Syria needs a solution, and diplomacy isn’t easy when enemies are dug in and al-Assad is in a vengeful mood. But recent history teaches us that war is not an easy answer.
