Paul Hollywood’s sausage roll ‘illegal’

- BY LOUIE SMITH louie.smith@mirror.co.uk

EAGLE-EYED punters have accused star baker Paul Hollywood of breaking the law at his trendy station cafe.

They say the celebrity chef is illegally selling sausage rolls “by the inch”.

Unfortunately for the Great British Bake Off star The Weights and Measures Act states imperial figures can only be displayed alongside a metric equivalent.

Hollywood’s “Knead” outlet at London Euston has a board boasting: “Melt in the mouth sausage roll. Buy by the inch.”

The error has been spotted. Shopper Paul Reynolds tweeted: “Seems Paul Hollywood is selling sausage roll by the inch. Nice idea and they look delicious, but pretty sure that is illegal.”

Another added: “Red Alert: Paul Holly- wood is *illegally* peddling sausage roll in imperial measures.” Hollywood, 52, who shot to fame as a judge on the Great British Bake Off, opened his first bakery at the London station last September.

Exceptions to weights and measures rules include draught beer or cider, sold by the pint, milk in returnable containers, and precious metals, sold in ounces.

Representatives for Hollywood have refused to comment.
