Poison victim: I don’t want Moscow help

- BY ALAN SELBY

YULIA Skripal last night broke her silence over the chemical attack, blamed on Russia, which left her and her father Sergei in hospital.

The Russian citizen, 33, has been in a safe house under armed guard since leaving Salisbury District Hospital this week. In a statement to the Met she praised the “expertise and kindness” of clinical staff who had treated her.

She added: “I find myself in a totally different life than the ordinary one I left just over a month ago. I am seeking to come to terms with my prospects, whilst also recovering from this attack.”

She went on: “Officers are helping to explain the investigative processes being undertaken. I have access to friends and family [and been] made aware of contacts at the Russian Embassy. At the moment I do not wish to avail myself of their services.”

She added: “I am safe and feeling better but not yet strong enough to give a full interview to the media. No one speaks for me, or for my father, but ourselves.” Ex-spy Sergei, 66, is still in hospital.

Chemical weapons inspectors will today reveal the Novichok used was “very pure”.
