DELAYS John Williams hooked up to monitors after his fall at home WAITING Ambulances queue up outside Morriston Hospital

AN OAP died after waiting nearly 30 hours to be treated at hospital, his son claimed.

John Williams, 80, passed away after being forced to wait 23 hours for an ambulance then seven hours to be admitted to hospital, Darren Williams said.

The pensioner, of Gowerton, Swansea, had injured himself after a fall at home last Tuesday and could only be taken to Morriston Hospital safely the following day.

His wait happened as ambulance crews lost 101 hours sitting at the hospital because of delays handing over patients. He fell again in the ward and died on Sunday.

Darren, 48, said: “I can’t help feeling bitter. The ambulance crew can’t do their jobs because of politics.“

The Welsh Ambulance Service is investigating. GRIEVING John’s sons Leigh and Darren Williams
