The mail of the species

A NEW set of stamps marks the successful reintroduction of extinct or endangered species.

The Eurasian beaver, pool frog, sand lizard and large blue butterfly are among those illustrated — by Wiltshire-based Tanya Achilleos Lock — on the series released on April 17.

Royal Mail’s Philip Parker said: “When a plant or animal becomes extinct in a country, that does not mean the end of the story.

“Our stamps mark the skill and expertise of reintroducing species.”
