NEWSBOY’S 1-2-3 1 CYRNAME 2 BRAIN POWER 3 MODUS

CYRNAME has the improvement up his sleeve to land a first Grade 1 success.

Paul Nicholls’ French native landed a novice handicap chase at Huntingdon in November on his fencing debut before a defeat in the same sphere at Newbury 17 days later.

However, the six-yearold stepped into Grade 2 company to lift the Wayward Lad Novices’ Chase at Kempton over Christmas before a fine neck second to Terrefort in the top-level Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase at Sandown in February.

The winner did the form no harm with a fine second in Cheltenham’s JLT Finian’s Novices’ Chase – Oscar

was back in fifth, with Cyrname’s stablemate Modus

eighth – last month. Cyrname then overcame a blunder four out to defy a Grade 2 penalty by 11 lengths in Kempton’s Pendil Novices’ Chase.

Sean Bowen’s mount has more to offer, with Arkle Brain Power runner-up and Modus, likely to be more at home over Aintree’s flatter layout, topping the list of dangers.
