MAI TO FLY IN BUMPER

NEWSBOY’S 1-2-3 1 GETAWAY KATIE MAI 2 DISSAVRIL 3 SEA STORY

GETAWAY KATIE MAI (nap) looks a worthy favourite in light of events at Cheltenham last month.

Punters sent John Queally’s mare, second to today’s Posh Trish rival during their point-to-pointing days, off at 7-1 for her debut in a fillies’ bumper at Ballinrobe last August.

The booking of Jamie Codd had signalled that connections meant business and so it proved, as Getaway Katie Mai gained a cosy three-quarterlength score from nexttime winner Motown Girl.

The daughter of Getaway was sent to contest the Grade 2 mares’ contest at Leopardstown’s Dublin Racing Festival at the beginning of February, and emerged with plenty of credit in running second, beaten a length and a half, to Relegate.

That form is red hot – Relegate beat male opposition in the Champion Bumper at the Festival, and fourth Tintangle also scored on her next start.

Codd’s mount is taken to resume winning ways, Dissavril, Duhallow with Gesture Sea Story and all capable of having a say in proceedings.
