KYRON FIGHTS TEARS
THE National Anthem played for the only time at these Games and Kyron McMaster choked back the tears.
He had just won 400m hurdles gold for the British Virgin Islands.
It was McMaster’s first major competition since his coach Xavier Samuels died in Hurricane Irma, reportedly falling off a roof. “I might not cry out here but, when I go back to the hotel, I will. I know how much this would have meant to him,” said McMaster (right).
“For a long time I said didn’t want to continue track. I had very little motivation left, but I’m glad now that I did.”
