THE HOUSE

-

The country pile with a starring role as the Argyll family’s estate Sunny Point is Ardgowan House in Inverclyde, on Scotland’s west coast.

Sir Ludovic Shaw Stewart, 31, who inherited the manor home at 17, has turned it into telly’s most sought-after film location used in shows such as Jonathan Creek, Taggart and Rebus. He says: “You wake up and Bill Nighy is in the kitchen making a cup of coffee and that’s just life. “And when you’re working late you might also hear someone scream.” On another occasion he found a coffin prop in his drawing room. Sir Ludovic, left, wanted to play a butler in Ordeal by Innocence but at 6ft 2in was too tall.
