JOEY BARTON could get the chance to resume his career at League Two Notts County.

The midfielder (right), 35, is banned from playing after breaking betting rules but that ends in the summer.

County boss Kevin Nolan played at Newcastle with Barton, whose last club was Premier League Burnley. He said: “Joey and I are good friends. He is a top player and a top lad. I really got on well with him. “From my point of view he’ll probably want to play at a higher level. “If a deal can be done, then it can, but if not then we wish him well.”
