SEVAR’S BUMPER PAYDAY

NEWSBOY’S 1-2-3 1 SEVARANO 2 DANNY KIRWAN 3 MISTER FISHER

SEVARANO (nb) created quite an impression on his Kempton debut, and is taken to remain unbeaten.

Market expectations weren’t exactly high when Oliver Sherwood (right) gave the son of Shantou took on 13 rivals at the Sunbury course in February as he was sent off at 16-1.

But Sevarano made a mockery of those odds in the style of a horse who has a bright future.

Held up during the early stages by Leighton Aspell, the five-year-old made progress in the straight and was travelling with ominous ease when going to the front two furlongs out. From that point, Severano powered away to beat Rhythm Is A Dancer by seven lengths. The winner looks the type to jump an obstacle, but he’s obviously got plenty under the bonnet on the level and, with a bundle of progress to come, can take his career record to two victories from as many starts.

Danny Kirwan

and Mister Fisher, who like Sevarano scored at Kempton at the first time of asking, are taken to claim the minor medals.
