Brain training helps to lower cancer stress
SIMPLE brain-training exercises reduce the emotional impact of breast cancer, researchers found.
Women who had cancer treatment took part in a series of memory challenges over 12 days.
The study showed a 16% drop in their anxiety and distress for up to 18 months, as well as a 14% fall in negative thoughts.
Academics said findings could have huge implications for other cancers and chronic illnesses.
Researcher Naz Derakhshan, at Birkbeck, University of London, added: “By building new neural connections in the brain, we can pave the way towards resilience.”
