Daley goes off the deep end at anti-gay Commonwealth
BY ALEX SPINK on Australia’s Gold Coast TOM Daley has blasted anti-gay laws in 37 Commonwealth countries after winning diving gold at the Games.
The 23-year-old said: “Coming to the Gold Coast and being able to live as an openly gay man is really important to me.
“There are 37 countries in the Commonwealth where it’s illegal to be who I am. Hopefully we can reduce that number between now OUTBURST Diver Tom Daley and the next Commonwealth Games.” The Olympian was joined in Oz by his husband, Hollywood screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, 43. The couple are expecting a baby in June. The Commonwealth Games Federation said: “Advocating and taking meaningful action to ensure equality and inclusivity is paramount in the successful delivery of the Games.” Australia legalised same-sex marriage in December.
