YOUR SHOUT

-

Fiona, my husband gave such a yell of “at last” that it brought me flying down the stairs. What brought this on? Your article about doing more to fine drivers than stop knife and gun crime.

He’s been bellowing about this for years and you’ve put it out there! Policing today seems all about coffers not coppers and the motorist is easy prey. Yes I can hear the screams of those who’ve been victims of drunk or speeding motorists, but your article is a view I think most people agree with.

As far as my husband is concerned, you’re up there with Jurgen Klopp (right). Personally, “there’s only one Fiona Phillips”. Wishing you all good things. Jennifer Daly via email FP: Me and Klopp?! You’ve made my day! “There’s only one Jennifer Daly…”

Fiona, it was interesting to read your words of support for Ant McPartlin. While I hope that he makes a swift recovery, I also hope that he thinks twice about drink-driving again.

It’s not an illness that makes people do things like that – it’s a selfish lifestyle choice. Ant can afford to pay for taxis. If it had been your child in the car that he hit, would you have felt so charitable about the circumstances that led to it happening? Paul Gardner, via email FP: Thanks Paul, yours wasn’t the only message stating similar views. You’re absolutely right, of course. I wasn’t condoning drink driving, though, more feeling sympathy for the mental health situation Ant is in.
