Kane has no reason to lie about goal..

-

HONESTLY, I don’t know what all the fuss is about over Harry Kane’s goal at Stoke City.

Why would Kane swear on his daughter’s life that he got a touch on Christian Eriksen’s cross if it wasn’t the case?

Going by my own personal experience, there will be no friction in the Tottenham dressing room about it – just the kind of lighthearted banter and ribbing that makes the football world go round.

Back in 2006, when Blackburn beat Chelsea 1-0 in our penultimate weekend of the season, I thought I had scored the goal which took us into Europe.

But Steven Reid claimed he got a glancing header on my free-kick, and the goal was duly awarded to him.

I could have been the hero – but the most important thing was that Blackburn qualified for the UEFA Cup, not arguing the toss over who scored the goal.

Only Kane knows whether he got a touch at the bet365 last weekend, but why would he say he did if he knew it wasn’t true?

Either way, his presence in the box was enough to distract Stoke keeper Jack Butland, so the goal was at least partly down to Kane’s involvement.

And one thing is for sure – heartbroken Stoke fans, emptyhanded again after another brave performance against one of the top six, couldn’t care less who scored it.
