SEFTON NOVICES’ HURDLE SANTINI fended off Roksana to deliver Nicky Henderson a fifth top-level prize of the Grand National meeting.

The master of Seven Barrows, successful earlier on the card with Terrefort, is now all but assured of defending his trainers’ title to land the crown for a sixth time.

“He’s a brave horse – a lovely big baby of a horse and a chaser for next year,” said Henderson.

“You can’t go without very, very good horses. I have to say everybody’s worked their socks off – everyone’s done brilliantly to get them here.”
