Monster had no remorse, says former cellmate
A MURDERER is penning a book for his three-year-old daughter explaining why he killed her mum’s new partner, a former cellmate says.
Evil Andrew Burke, 31, started writing in prison before being sentenced for slitting the throat of travel agent Cassie Hayes in front of horrified customers.
Chris, 25, said: “He’s writing his daughter a book about what he’s done and why he did it. He was in the cell with me for four days and had written 13 pages.”
Burke showed no remorse for the killing and laughed at Cassie’s “s***ty little wicker basket” coffin when her funeral was on TV.
The inmate said: “He said he’d do it again. I asked him if it was worth it and he said, ‘Yes’.”
Chris was scared of Burke and persuaded officers to move the killer to another cell. Burke constantly moaned about the food and conditions in Liverpool Prison and was put in the next cell.
Chris, now out after serving three months for breaching a suspended sentence, heard Burke being attacked by four lags.
In April, Burke, who admitted murdering Cassie, 28, at a TUI branch in Southport, Merseyside, in January, was jailed for at least 26 years by Liverpool crown court.
The court heard that he had committed the “act of unspeakable savagery” after harassing Cassie for months.
He blamed her for taking away Laura Williams, his ex-partner and mother of his daughter.
