I love this picture of my mum and dad, Joyce and Fred, taken in 1954, in Seale, Surrey, outside my grandparents’ house. They are sitting on my dad’s Velocette, on which they’d venture as far as Cornwall. This captures for me the freedom they had before settling down and having kids. Dad passed away in 2005 but mum, now 87, is currently enjoying life in America. Ian Sturgess, East Sussex
