Ayew siblings will ’kill themselves’ for club that’s backed them

- BY JAMES NURSEY

JORDAN AYEW says his brother Andre is bringing the best out of him and claims they will spill blood to ensure Swansea stay up.

The Ayews were united in January on Andre’s £18million return from West Ham.

And they played together up front against Everton, Jordan thumping in a deserved 71stminute leveller for his 11th goal of the season.

City are now five points above the drop zone but have slipped to 17th.

They travel to Manchester City and then host Chelsea next, with their fate likely to still be in the balance in the last month of the season.

But Jordan (far right, marked by Wayne Rooney while Seamus Coleman picks up Andre, left) insists he and his older sibling are up for the fight.

A £5m signing from Aston Villa in 2017, he said: “It’s a dream come true to play with my brother.

“We will fight and kill ourselves for this club because this club has given my brother and me so much.

“He is supporting me, pushing me forward to score more goals and be more effective than ever. But we’re suffering with the stress and it’s not easy for anyone, including the supporters.

“Hopefully in a few weeks we will all go home with a smile on our faces.”

In a first-half onslaught, Swansea were denied by goalline clearances by Cenk Tosun and Leighton Baines.

Jordan Pickford saved from Andre Ayew, yet to find the net in his second spell at the Liberty Stadium, when he was clean through.

The visitors finally sparked into life to open the scoring in the 43rd minute after good build-up play.

The ball ricocheted in off defender Kyle Naughton after Lukasz Fabianski made a double save from Yannick Bolasie and Idrissa Gueye.

Swansea pushed for an equaliser after the break before dangerman Ayew (right, celebrating his goal) buried a brilliant shot to spare Andre criticism for his earlier miss. But Jordan insisted: “My brother has been really vital since he came in.

“He’s doing wonderful things and a great job. It’s not easy to be up there pressing alone. He’s a leader and one of the leaders in the dressing room, that is why we brought him here.

“OK, maybe everyone is disappointed because of the goals. But when I came in this club the first time, for six months I scored one goal. “The most important thing is Andre helps the team, does well and is effective. Against Everton he was one of the best on the pitch. He was closing down and did a great job. I think we deserved to win 3-0 or 4-0.

“But we are all on the right way and we need to keep on working hard.”
