OVERALL PROSPECTS

-

ALREADY the talk is of City being unstoppable next term but that defies recent history... and logic.

Manchester United were the last team to retain the title and that was almost a decade ago. It’s tough to win it; even tougher to retain it.

City ran away with the title this season but United won it with five games to spare in 2000-01 yet finished only third the following season.

So expect Liverpool to get closer next season because they have an ace up their sleeve in the shape of manager Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp (above) twice pipped the mighty Bayern Munich to the German title and he is building a team at Anfield that looks even more exciting than his Borussia Dortmund side.

The average age of arguably their best XI is 24.5, mind-blowing for a team on the verge of a Champions League final.

And they are already sure of one top-quality addition in midfielder Naby Keita.

Don’t be surprised if they add French international front-man Thomas Lemar and Napoli midfielder Jorginho. And, if they do, don’t be surprised if they become genuine title contenders next season.
