OVERALL PROSPECTS

-

A NEW stadium and new era at Tottenham next season under Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine has shown at Wembley this season and at White Hart Lane last year that he can turn his home ground into a fortress.

Spurs’ first priority must be to get their feet under the table at their new place. Then they must focus on building from a position of defensive strength and improving their attack if they want to challenge for the title.

Harry Kane is vying for the Golden Boot again but Fernando Llorente has been a disaster. A striker of superior quality would have at least given Spurs a chance of clinging on to City’s coattails during Kane’s absence.

As for potential targets, Spurs must make landing Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon a priority. Schalke playmaker Max Meyer is a good player available on a free transfer while Javier Hernandez wants to leave West Ham. He’d come relatively cheap by current standards. But Pochettino (above) still needs an injection of top quality.

Champions League football will help attract an even higher calibre of player. Some top talent will be available this summer.
