‘Leg loss was best decision I ever made’
AN athlete who paid £5,000 to have a leg amputated privately after the NHS refused says it was the best decision of her life.
An ingrowing toenail caused Hannah Moore, 21, years of pain, resulting in a sepsis battle and putting her in a wheelchair.
Her right leg was amputated below the knee two years ago and she became British PTS4 Paratriathlon Champion last August – and hopes to go to the Tokyo Paralympics in 2020.
She runs on a blade and has just been fitted with a revolutionary cycling leg.
Hannah, of Sherborne, Dorset, said: “Having my leg amputated was the best decision I’ve made.
“The things I’ve achieved I would never have without this. Now my dream is to compete in Tokyo.”
