SHE may be pushing 80 but legendary singer Tina Turner is the hottest ticket in the West End.

This new show, starring Adrienne Warren as the R&B idol, brings Tina’s many great tunes back to glorious, foot-stomping life. But jukebox musical this is not.

Following Tina’s story from humble beginnings in Tennessee to global stardom, it kicks off with a new arrangement of the classic, Nutbush City Limits.

From that moment, the electricity in the air practically crackles.

“You’re too loud!”, scolded her mum. Well, thankfully, that little girl with the powerful voice never did keep quiet.

The songs were flawless and deeply felt – it’s no surprise, given that Switzerland-based Tina, who was at the London theatre last night, has been closely involved with the production.

The story covers in brutal detail the many years she spent with her abusive first husband, guitarist Ike Turner.

Warren, 30, is sure to win awards for her astonishing performance. Rocker Rod Stewart was in the audience and could barely sit still when she performed.

Few West End shows will have an ending quite as spectacular as when Tina starts belting out her most famous song. This musical is simply the best...
