Our picture shows German physicist Professor Albert Einstein (centre) arriving at London’s Victoria Station in October 1930. He was in the capital to attend a banquet at The Savoy to raise awareness of the plight of Eastern European Jews. The theoretical physicist was forced to leave Germany for America in 1933 when Hitler came to power. He became a US citizen in 1940 and died in Princeton, New Jersey 63 years ago today.
